noise measurements with CPX

Traffic noise is an essential disturbing factor in municipal areas. An active noise protection, i. e. noise prevention at the source is generally favoured compared to passive noise protection (noise protection walls, multiple glazing). That is why the development of noise optimized pavements are highly promoted recently.

That corresponds with the need to measure the effect of these pavements as well as the noise reduction potential of existing roads. The established method SPB (Statistical Pass-by) is very time intensive, seldom applicable in municipal areas and offers only punctual results. So the Close Proximity (CPX) method gains more and more influence which records the tyre-vehicle noise of a fast driving vehicle which dominates the motor noise at speeds of ca. 30 km/h and higher. The CPX trailer possesses several sound absorbing characteristics to perform measurements even within high dense traffic.
