The loxodromic measuring wheel, which is moved over the wettened measuring section is used to determine the sideway force which increases with higher friction. The ratio between this sideway force an the wheel load is the demanded sideway force coefficient.

SCRIM masurements in Germany have to be conducted in compliance with the TP Griff-StB (SKM), edition 2007.

 

This includes a limied licence (one year) and a current extern controlling (three months) for the measuring vehicle and the education and assessment of the drivers, conducted and documented by the Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen (BASt).

 

Furthermore, measurements are only vaild between the following temperature ranges. 

road surface:  min. 5 °C, max. 50 °C
- air: min. 5 °C
- water: min. 8 °C, max. 25 °C
